how close can a fresh water storage tank and a waste tank be?

I’m planning on placing a huge water tank (1000+gal) in one room and a waste holding tank (a small septic) in another. The rooms will be separated by a 1′-2′ concrete wall. both tanks will be checked once a day for leaks (when I’m using them). I just don’t want any possible chance to contaminant the fresh water.
are there any websites that would have good info on this

Oil Spills from Domestic Oil Tanks

Oil Spills from Domestic Oil Tanks

Domestic tanks are commonly used by homeowners if a mains gas supply is not available in their area. Oil spills from domestic tanks are not very common, but they can have drastic adverse effects on the environment. Just one liter or oil can contaminate up to one million liters of drinking water. An oil spill or leak from a domestic oil tank is often the result of improper installation, corrosion, or overfilling.

Oil spills from domestic tanks can be avoided if precautionary measures are taken right from the start. Most tanks used for domestic purposes are made of steel or composite materials, so they are susceptible to corrosion if left outdoors. To protect your tank from extreme temperatures and harsh weather conditions, it should be installed indoors.

If your tank must be installed outdoors, the location should meet the following criteria. The surface should be even and made of non-combustible materials, like concrete slabs or patio stones. The tank should not block an entrance and it should not be within 50 feet of a well either. Make sure the tank is not placed up against a wall, which can lead to rust.

Most importantly, never install a used tank. You might think it’s a good way to save money, but reusing tanks will only invite problems and can cost you big bucks in the long run.

Up to 1000 liters of oil can leak out of a single pinhole in just eight hours, so inspecting your tank regularly, particularly in winter, is very important. You should check for any signs of corrosion and other damage like cracks or dents. It is also wise to apply rust-proof paint on all parts of the tank to prevent corrosion. Tanks should be cleaned periodically as well. If left unclean, sludge and water will accumulate and lead to internal corrosion.

If I want to park and use a camper on my property, how can I dispose of the wastewater?

Is there a service, like one of those septic cleaning companies, that will come and empty the tanks periodically?

Commercial Water Tanks for a Wide Range of Applications

Commercial Water Tanks for a Wide Range of Applications

Water tanks are one of the commonly used products that are being used in various industries. There are different applications that employ the use of water tanks. Some of the types of water tanks include potable water tanks, rain water tanks, waste water treatment tanks, process water tanks, fuel storage tanks, or chemical storage tanks etc.

Since ages, the primary aim of tanks is to meet storage requirements. In early days, people were making clay tanks to store food and water. In homes, we also use different kinds of water tanks to meet our water requirements. These tanks are designed specifically to provide adequate storage as well as safe drinking water.

Companies involved into construction, manufacturing or chemical industries need high quality durable giant tanks to ensure proper storage and safety of the materials. They have a limited space and want to utilize that space properly to maintain safety as well as storage. In order to make the limited space good, tank manufacturing companies totally customized solutions in terms of size, shape, material used, and space.

There are various applications of water tanks that include rain harvesting, rural, community, mining, export, re-roofing, grants, metropolitan, farm, commercial, re-lining, schools, fire water, industrial, and servicing etc.

For instance, there should be proper hygiene in school tanks as a slight amount of contaminants can cost lives of hundreds of children. Tank manufacturing companies provides assessments of a school’s water storage requirements and makes sound recommendations as to the collection, accurate placement of the storage tanks, and the redistribution options to supply toilet systems, or for reticulation of gardens.

In today’s world where underground water is receding rapidly, there is a strong need for rain water tanks. The rain water that you save can be essentially used to supply your toilets and irrigation. It also leads to save our natural resources.

Air and Water Pollution problems, HELP???

What would you do if you found out that in the community you live, their were these problems below?

Please, I’m looking for serious suggestions or ideals only. These problems can really effect people and probably animals to and I want to find ways to STOP this before it’s to late.

1) wastewater contamination, which is caused from overflowing storm drainage and septic systems from large floods.

2) Tanks of the gas stations crack underground from lack of maintenance. The gasoline is then released into the ground and eventually to the water supply. The effects vary in many, but some reported illnesses deal with breathing problems, problems with the heart and problems with brain function.

3) There is arsenic in some of the water here and the earth crust rock and soil produced it, it is very poising but has not claimed lives yet. How would you clean this up without the long term effects it can have if it is ingested?

Does anyone know whose house this describes?

A house designed "in harmony with the landscape." To reduce heating and cooling needs, prevailing winds and temperatures were taken into account in situating the building. The house also uses two lesser-known environmentally friendly technologies: geothermal heating and wastewater recycling.
Inside a closet, a collection of pipes is thrust deep into the earth, down where the sun don’t shine and the temperature is perpetually 67 degrees. Water circulates through this zone and then back up into house pipes to heat or cool the building. The system uses less electricity than conventional heating and cooling installations, but that electricity does come from the local electric grid. The house also has a well and recycles its water. Water that flows out a tub drain is known as "gray water"; water from the toilet is "black water." This home recycles both types via subterranean filtration tanks and uses the resultant cleaner water in the garden. Hint: it’s in Crawford Texas.

Suggestions for an Inexpensive and Compact Betta Tank?

Next year I will be moving into a small dorm room in New York. Provided I can find a caregiver for him while I am at home, I want to buy a male betta. Normally, I would opt for the maximum space, but sadly, I won’t have this luxury next year.

Can anyone suggest an inexpensive tank set up that would be reasonable for a betta?

I am using a PenPlax filter in my current betta set-up*, and it seems to work well enough. I would like to find a tank that is both compact and ergonomic– yet will still have sufficient space for a filtration unit

I already have a lot of the equipment when it comes to gravel, lights, and air pumps (It feels like I’m starting an air pump COLLECTION)– is there an attractive desktop aquarium out there that doesn’t require me to buy the whole kit?
I also love the look of Mini-Bow and tanks, do they come in 5 gallons?

I have also heard good things about Art Nano Filters.

Does anyone have experience with them? I read they don’t have carbon. Is it still ok?
