My 2006 Maxima has a tiny oil filter Fram# PH6607). I was wondering if anyone has interchangeable larger oil filter part number. I would definitely feel it would be an improvement to add filtration to this small oil capacity of this engine.

Unfortunately, I did not get an answer from the forum. My research finds that both the Fram 6607 &7317 series filters are 20mm X 1.5mm Th’d. The 7317 is .8" taller than the Nissan specified 6607. Manufacturers are using smaller oil filters for EPA regulations. One simple fact remains is larger the filter, the larger the capacity will be. I may not be a "Nissan Engineer"; I am an Engineer by profession with an Aerospace, & Nuclear background. These are the factual findings, not just an opinion.

This is a diesel industrial engine (small, 2.2 L I think). The filter on it is made by Tokyo Roki. 6D7 is printed on the side, I don’t know if this is the part number or not (there are also some Japanese characters on it that I couldn’t even begin to interpret). Nobody, not even an ISUZU dealer has been able to help (pretty sad that an ISUZU dealer can’t figure out what oil filter I need). Thanks for any help.

My newer 2006 Sentra has a tiny oil filter. My old 1995 Sentra has a much larger oil filter. I was wondering if anyone has interchangeable larger oil filter part number. I would definately feel it would be an improvement to add filtration to this small oil capacity of this engine.

Size is an indication on filtration. The larger the filter the larger the the area to catch contaminents.

Manaufacturers use smaller filters & oil capacity for enviromental reasons.
Increasing oil capacity reduces heat, oil degradation.

I had hoped a tuner would have answered my question to save me from expirimenting. It is too bad I have no good answers to choose from.

Can you change the oil filter adapter on a 5.4 triton engine to a 5.8 oil filter adapter to achieve a bigger filter (5.8) and more filtration ? The oil filters on a 5.8 engine have a optional bigger filter (FL-1) . Would like to put the FL-1 filter on a 5.4 engine "if" it doesnt hurt the engine. I say it should be no prob. but would like definate inquirey before attempting……..thx. I know the adapters are different but o-ring diameters are the same.

If I was to change the oil myself, in general, what kind of oil, oil filter should I buy?

Also, I need to add more engine coolant. What kind of engine coolant typically is best for this kind of truck? The antifreeze that’s in there now is green…
