Suggestions for an Inexpensive and Compact Betta Tank?
Next year I will be moving into a small dorm room in New York. Provided I can find a caregiver for him while I am at home, I want to buy a male betta. Normally, I would opt for the maximum space, but sadly, I won’t have this luxury next year.
Can anyone suggest an inexpensive tank set up that would be reasonable for a betta?
I am using a PenPlax filter in my current betta set-up*, and it seems to work well enough. I would like to find a tank that is both compact and ergonomic– yet will still have sufficient space for a filtration unit

I already have a lot of the equipment when it comes to gravel, lights, and air pumps (It feels like I’m starting an air pump COLLECTION)– is there an attractive desktop aquarium out there that doesn’t require me to buy the whole kit?
I also love the look of Mini-Bow and tanks, do they come in 5 gallons?

I have also heard good things about Art Nano Filters.

Does anyone have experience with them? I read they don’t have carbon. Is it still ok?

Whatever you do, make sure you have at least a 2.5 gallon tank with a filter and heater. The filter that you have is perfectly fine.

Ebay is the best! If you do a search for ones only in your local area you can find some good new and used ones and most will let you pick up so there is no delivery cost!

carbon is not necessary and the red sea art filters are great! For a professional looking tank I’d get a 3 gallon picotope

but if price is a concern I’d get the choices you gave or maybe a regular 2.5 gallon aga glass tank. Since you already have gravel/ lights I’d get the 2.5 gallon aga tank. It’s only $12-13 and the 5 gallon version is around the same price, maybe a dollar more.
Additionally, the two other tank scratch more easily, is way overpriced, and costs more to customize to you likings (light, filter etc). 2.5 gallon AGA
(the smallest one)
