can anyone explain this move regarding the oil spill?
According to the Examiner, linked below, the Dutch offered us the use of four skimmers three days after the spill. Four of these skimmers have the capacity to remove over 140,000 barrels of oil PER DAY from the sea, but the offer was turned down, presumably because of EPA regulations.
The way these skimmers work (read the article) is that they pump oil and sea water into tankers, and as the water settles to the bottom of the tankers, it is pumped back into the ocean. The EPA prohibits pumping oily water back into the ocean, and that is the ostensible reason that this offer was declined.
The EPA also delayed the construction of sand berms that would have prevented the oil from reaching the Louisiana coastline – delaying because they wanted to do an "Environmental Impact Study".
Am I missing something here? Are these people monumentally stupid, incompetent, or is there something else to this? It’s almost as though they wanted this disaster to happen.
Rahm Emanuel said "Never let a crisis go to waste". Obama is already making moves to use this crisis to advance his energy agenda.
So there are three possibilities – either they are very stupid and incompetent, showing a complete lack of leadership from day one of this crises, OR, there’s a lot more to this than is being reported and there were very good reasons to not use the skimmers and not build the sand berms, OR they saw some big political possibilities in letting this spill get just a little more out of hand …
If the second is true, I think it’s time for some more answers here.
As long as BP is owning up to their share of this disaster, and is possibly facing criminal charges for their negligence, I think the government should be held accountable also.
If the article is true – then BP is responsible for the spill,but the US Government and the EPA are responsible for the extent of the environmental disaster.

This company has big "sweeping arms" that can suck up 92,000 gallons an hour, much more than has been previously used.

I’m assuming BP has no jurisdiction over oil that has left their rig or pipe that is no floating off our waters. If i rent a skimmer boat and start collecting the oil I would have ownership and would be allowed ot sell it is this correct?

Thursday, April 29th Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal declares a state of emergency and the federal government sends in skimmers and booms to prevent environmental damage. That morning, the spill is roughly 16 miles off the Louisiana coast and stretches across a 600-mile area.
Thursday, April 29th President Obama designates the spill of national significance allowing personnel and equipment from other regions to be more easily mobilized and transferred to the scene.
That response time was totally unsat.

What are some industrial uses for activated carbon water filters?
I’m doing a science project for school and I need to know some ways in which these filters are used industrially or commercially to clean water, any help would be appreciated =).
Does this violate any OSHA or Department of Labor laws??
I work in what has become a cramped warehouse doing light industrial work. The extremes of cold, hot, and air quality are generally unhealthy.Proper heating,cooling and air circulation is not always made possible We use solvent based printers.This is an issue because the filter being used for the air is clogged and hasn’t been changed in months.The cold recently got me sick.My employer had purchased a propane heater but has always lagged in getting more gas when needed. So the long and short is this: If the work environment causes sickness and you have sick pay,shouldn’t you get it.I went to my doctor and was told it was a touch of the flu and provided my boss with a note. Here’s what I expected to receive on my most recent check I worked 30 hours between Monday and Wednesday.I went in on a Thursday and had to leave an hour in because I felt so bad and it was in the 30′s. I figured 7 +8=’s 15 sick hours used. I got my check and it’s for 30 worked and 10 sick. Whats wrong wih this $hit?
